We’re gearing up for the prestigious “National Prevention Days 2023” conference taking place in Ostrava on October 10 and 11. This major event promises a comprehensive exploration of contemporary issues within the realm of crime prevention and security which have gained paramount importance within the Crime Prevention Strategy outlined for the Czech Republic from 2022-2027.
The conference will strengthen an evidence-based approach to crime prevention and analysis, putting the spotlight on emerging threats and challenges. Key discussions will revolve around the advocacy and advancement of crime prevention systems, the implementation of a holistic security approach in high-risk areas, situational crime prevention, novel methodologies, and the prevention of cybercrime.
Our colleague Erik Feldman will deliver a presentation shedding light on the utilization of video analytics software within urban CCTV systems for crime prevention. Our collaborative solutions developed together with partners provide specialized software dedicated to video analysis and processing. This sophisticated software augments the functionality of existing CCTV systems, helping operators discern and identify objects and events depicted in video footage. Its capabilities extend to tracking the movement of individuals, vehicles, and potential threats, with the analytics framework leveraging algorithms and artificial intelligence to scrutinize image data, provide relevant insights, and issue timely alerts.
This solution offers great potential for improving safety in public spaces, optimising traffic infrastructure, and preventing crime. It enables online and offline analysis of the city’s CCTV footage and extends the capabilities of the dispatching system by issuing alarms from selected cameras. The automation of the system enables faster police responses and minimizes the possibility of human error. The resulting solution enables the creation of dashboards over video recordings linked to third-party information systems. In addition, the system can group and evaluate footage from multiple cameras simultaneously, applying various filters to classify objects by type.
An integral feature of the software is automated notification of operators regarding atypical occurrences to enable prompt intervention. Such notifications cover the detection of traffic violations, unusual behaviour, and the identification of traffic accidents. Operators can rest assured that stringent measures are in place to ensure the protection of personal data in strict compliance with Czech and European Union regulations. Bring on an enriching discourse and knowledge exchange on this topic and more at the “National Prevention Days 2023” conference, underscoring our commitment to pioneering solutions that bolster public safety and security.
